lets just assume that i am entirely uneducated in regards to any of this information. can someone please tell me where we are, why we can not find it to come together. anarchy, to me, is not chaos, but the ultimate definition of self accountability. my question. when.

How does anarchy relate to or challenge consensus reality?

Many anarchists see the state and capitalism as related with consensus reality and so are interested in somehow challenging or overthrowing that (part of) consensus reality. Many also see anarchism as about achieving a different consensus reality without the state and capitalism.

My question is what do you think about exploring an anarchy that is not about that, but is instead about challenging consensus reality itself and exploring outside of the limits of what people agree the world (society, politics, economics, physics, etc etc etc) is and how it works? Any examples of this in historical practice or in writing or your experience etc?

How would this kind of anarchy have different theories and practices than the anarchist movement generally?

Agamben is credited as being in the movie, but I can't figure out where he is in it. I don't think he's the guy with the mask and the blazer who stands in a fountain because that guy has the wrong accent. Does anyone know?

I've come across of a lot of these arguments before and while some are harder to counter, some are quite easy. I'd just like to see how people respond to some of these questions.. hopefully I'll learn some stuff here and be able to form more arguments of my own. These tend to be the arguments of strong patriots or capitalists that I've come across recently:

1) Laws protect us and without them, society would indulge in chaos.

2) Capitalism offers more jobs and gives 'everyone' the chance to start a business of their own and profit off it. Besides, it's voluntary. How is that slavery?

3) Why have such a radical opinion when none of these things are possible? Why not work to change laws and politicians?

4) We need government to create and maintain roads, hospitals, fire departments, medicine, etc.

Those are a few off the top of my head. Most of those can be argued against, very easily. Some, such as the capitalism, I still have trouble getting around and not having studied anything about economic systems, I can't come up with more than your basic 'anti-capitalist' arguments. So, anyways, I'd just like to see how fellow Anarchists respond to some of the questions.

I often hear people talk about 'cycles of struggle,' or, often, 'deepening cycles of struggle.' I think this means that resistance movements tend to happen in clusters or waves, perhaps in response to specific historical crises, or perhaps just because one group or city or whatever will inspire/embolden several others, causing momentum to build.

I wonder if anyone can elaborate on this. Who thought of this idea? Were they talking about a specific set of events? Are there any strategic/historical implications I'm missing? (I'm guessing there are...)

When did black bloc youth stop identifying as revolutionary anarchists?

And start identifying as insurrectionary anarchists?

Reading the Black Bloc papers it seems that most anarchist youth in the 90s to early 00s identified as revolutionary anarchists.

At some point it seems the favorite label switched to insurrectionary (despite if folks have affinity with contemporary insurrectionary anarchism from Italy, etc)

I get the sense it is a label that just is used to say "we really mean it" ...

Just wondering what folks who've been around the bloc for a few years think about this, or have noticed.

To what extent were anarchists involved in the 2005 Toledo riot?

This riot was in response to a planned NSM rally and march. The march was to be through a black hood and to ostensibly protest black gang violence.

I've read conflicting reports on whether the rally and march happened or were canceled, but I know they were planned. The planned march was to be unpermitted, and may or may not have happened, yet it was said to be accompanied by Toledo PD apparently because the chief of police is an actual Nazi himself. What is known is that a riot jumped off, the police came in hard to the black hood, and the police were repelled until pig reinforcements arrived.

Fiscally poor blacks looted a grocery store and burned down a bar frequented by police and city government. There is grainy YouTube footage of the police running over one kid in the street, the looting, the arson, and the rocks and bottles thrown at police. There is also good footage of tear gas CLEARING THE FUCK out of the street like I've never seen at a demo. Apparently that shit works on actual civil disturbances even if it is much less effective on professional anarchists.

It later came out that an FBI informant was an organizer of this NSM action. He was paid ~$20,000 by the FBI and policing the riot cost an estimated $300,000. No telling how much the arson and looting cost capital.

When the Nazis returned a few weeks later for a permitted rally they were outnumbered 4:1 by counter-demonstrators. Nazis + counter-demonstrators were outnumbered 3:1 by federal, state, and local authorities said to number 700. There were ~20 arrests of counter-demonstrators; no arrests of Nazi who were bussed in an out by the authorities. Toledo was described as being in a state of martial law for the day and the right of public assembly was restricted for two weeks after this.

These incidents, taken together, are an interesting scene of antifa action in the US and I'd like to know more of the story. Wikipedia makes it clear that antifa and anarchists were involved to some extent, and I'd like to hear about the efforts to organize the proles of color against these Nazi fucks. I'd also like to hear more about the opposition black community managers made to antifa organizing and how those attempts at management were overcome/subverted.
